Many pet foods on the market are made with low-quality meat of uncertain origin. Buddy & Blu is produced to the highest standards, using carefully selected, high-quality ingredients that are better for your pet and have a lesser impact on the environment.
Is Buddy & Blu nutritionally complete like traditional pet food?
Yes. Buddy & Blu is developed as a complete and balanced food that meets all your pet's nutritional needs. Adult pets can eat Buddy & Blu throughout their entire adult life without the need for dietary supplements. You may also give Buddy & Blu snacks during the day, as long as you respect the recommended quantities on the back of the pack.
Should I check with my vet before switching to Buddy & Blu?
Buddy & Blu is not a veterinary diet. However, it may offer benefits compared to commonly available foods, particularly for pets with digestive or skin issues linked to allergies. If your pet requires a specific medical diet, please consult your veterinarian before switching.
Were the animals on your packaging made with AI?
No. Our packaging was designed by professional graphic designers, and the Buddy & Blu characters were created by a graphic artist.
Ingredients & Nutrition
Why are starches included in the recipes?
Starches are important during the manufacturing process to ensure that the kibble maintains a firm and stable shape.
What does 'crude ash' mean on the label?
'Crude ash' refers to the total mineral content in the food, such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, measured after the manufacturing process.
What is a hydrolysate and why is it used?
Hydrolysates are proteins that have been broken down into smaller components, making them easier to digest and less likely to trigger allergic reactions.
Which antioxidants are used in Buddy & Blu recipes?
We use EU-approved antioxidants to help maintain the quality and freshness of the food throughout its shelf life: tocopherol extracts from vegetable oil (1b306(i)) and ascorbyl palmitate (1b304).
Why can the colour of the kibbles vary from batch to batch?
Slight variations in kibble colour between batches are normal. These differences are caused by natural variations in ingredients and the manufacturing process and do not affect quality or nutrition.
Where do your ingredients come from?
Our ingredients are sourced within the EU, mostly close to where the food is produced.
Do I need to add supplements when feeding Buddy & Blu?
No supplements are required when feeding Buddy & Blu, as our recipes are complete and balanced. If your pet has specific dietary needs, consult your veterinarian.
Are adult recipes suitable for senior dogs or cats?
Yes. Buddy & Blu adult recipes are suitable for senior dogs and cats. Simply adjust portion sizes to match their activity level and nutritional needs.
Is Buddy & Blu suitable for working dogs?
Buddy & Blu can be suitable for working dogs, but portion sizes should be adjusted to meet their higher energy requirements.
Is Buddy & Blu suitable for sterilised dogs?
Yes. The Buddy & Blu adult dog recipe is suitable for sterilised dogs. As sterilised dogs generally require fewer calories, be sure to adjust portions to avoid weight gain.
Can I mix Buddy & Blu with wet or homemade food?
We do not recommend mixing Buddy & Blu with homemade or other wet foods, as it can be difficult to ensure your pet receives complete and balanced nutrition. Mixing foods may also affect digestion and appetite.
Where is Buddy & Blu food made?
Buddy & Blu foods and snacks are manufactured in the heart of Europe, in Czechia.
How do you guarantee quality standards?
Our products are carefully formulated and produced within the European Union following strict quality standards. The food is made under certified quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and applies HACCP control procedures to ensure high levels of safety, consistency, and traceability.
Why do you use salmon, and where does it come from?
Salmon is used as a complementary protein source in our adult recipes. It is highly digestible and commonly used in hypoallergenic formulas. Our salmon is sourced from farms in Scotland.
Why is chicken used in the Puppy & Kitten recipes, and where does it come from?
Chicken is used as a main or complementary protein source in some of our recipes dedicated to younger pets. It is highly digestible and well suited to growing pets. The chicken is sourced from the EU.
Insects & Sustainability
Why do you use insects in Buddy & Blu pet food?
Insects are rich in nutrients, highly digestible, and represent a sustainable alternative protein source that pets enjoy.
Which insect species are used in your recipes?
We use larvae from Hermetia illucens, commonly known as the Black Soldier Fly (BSFL).
How are insects processed for pet food?
In our food range, the larvae are processed into a purée and mixed with other ingredients during manufacturing. In our snacks, the insects are used in powdered form.
Where and how are the insects raised?
The insects are raised in the countryside of the Netherlands in a climate-controlled environment.
What do the insects eat?
They primarily feed on agricultural by-products, contributing to upcycling and sustainability.
How do you take care of insect welfare?
Insects are raised in controlled conditions with appropriate climate, water, and nutrition.
Health & Special Diets
Is Buddy & Blu suitable for pets with sensitivities or minor allergies?
Yes. Buddy & Blu is suitable for pets with sensitive digestion or skin irritation. These issues are often linked to food allergies, and our recipes use ingredients known to be among the least allergenic.
Can Buddy & Blu be considered hypoallergenic?
Buddy & Blu is formulated with hypoallergenic principles in mind, though individual responses may vary.
Can Buddy & Blu help support digestion?
Yes. Our carefully selected ingredients and protein sources are chosen to support healthy digestion.
My pet has flatulence or soft stools after eating Buddy & Blu — is this normal?
This can occur if the transition from the previous food was too fast. We recommend a gradual transition over several days, as indicated on the back of the bag. Some pets with more sensitive stomachs may need a slightly longer transition period, so plan accordingly. We recommend ordering Buddy & Blu ahead of the change to make the transition smoother.

We recommend a gradual transition by mixing Buddy & Blu with your dog's previous food over 7–10 days. Check the calorie content (Kcal/Kg) of the previous food and adjust portions as needed to maintain an ideal weight.
How often should I feed my dog?
We recommend feeding adult dogs two meals per day, based on the daily ration indicated on the back of the bag or on our website.
How much food should I give my dog?
Daily feeding guidelines are provided on the back of the bag and depend on your dog's size, age, and activity level.
My dog still seems hungry after meals — what should I do?
Ensure you are feeding the correct amount for your dog's weight and activity level. If in doubt, consult your veterinarian.
What's the best way to measure my dog's portions?
Using a digital kitchen scale or equivalent is the most accurate way to measure portions.
Feeding Your Cat
How do I transition my cat to Buddy & Blu food?
We recommend a gradual transition by mixing Buddy & Blu with your cat's previous food over 7–10 days. Check the calorie content (Kcal/Kg) of the previous food and adjust portions as needed to maintain an ideal weight.
How often should I feed my cat?
Adult cats can be fed in one or multiple meals per day, depending on their habits and needs.
How much food should I give my cat?
Daily feeding guidelines are listed on the back of the bag and depend on your cat's size and age.
My cat doesn't like the food — what can I do?
Try a slower transition with the previous food, or slightly moisten the kibble with a little lukewarm water to enhance aroma and palatability.
Storage & Handling
How long can I store Buddy & Blu products?
Once opened, we recommend using the food within 4 to 6 weeks for optimal freshness.
What's the best way to store my pet's food?
Store the food in its original resealable bag or in an airtight container, away from sunlight, in a cool and dry place.
Should I add water to the kibble?
You may add a small amount of water to soften the kibble, which can also improve palatability.
